Welcome to the pages containing the freeware release of !CPC,
the Amstrad CPC emulator for Acorn RISC OS machines.
Legal waffling:
- !CPC means !CPC, !CPC_Src and !CPC_Demo
- !CPC is not an Acorn product
- !CPC remains Copyright (C) 1997 Mark RISON
- The OS, DOS and BASIC ROMs remain Copyright (C) Amstrad and Locomotive
- The FrontEnd module remains Copyright (C) Acorn
- The ZX81 ROM remains Copyright (C) Someone. This might be
Amstrad, Sinclair Something, or Something Else Altogether -- no-one
seems to know!
- Any commercial or for-profit use of !CPC is prohibited unless
specifically negotiated with Mark RISON in writing
- No guarantees, no liability accepted, etc.
I have no time to clean things up for this freeware release,
unfortunately. You'll have to ignore various out-of-date
addresses, details about the shareware registration fee, etc..
Here are a few hints to get you going with the
development version (the properly released versions should have
adequate documentation):
- Download cpcsrc961124.zip (see the links at the bottom of the page)
- Dearchive
- Download ROMs.zip
- Dearchive and place the contents in !CPC_Src.ROMs
- If you have a SA, then you must change the line
in !Boot which says %Set CPC$StrongARM 0 to say %Set CPC$StrongARM 1
- If you have a SA, then you may also wish to twiddle CPC$Slowdown
(make it more negative -- try something like -80000)
- You have to wait for the emulator to assemble. This takes a while,
and is not multitasking. Garbage will appear in the top left of your
screen
- Hope for the best -- you're getting what you've paid for!
Perhaps it'd be best to try the properly released version first!
Documentation is in !CPC_Src. You are advised to at least skim
the page which you're about to read.
Now, if you'd care to follow me...
